Located in Houston, Texas, Solugen has created the world's first carbon negative specialty chemicals manufacturing facility: the BioforgeTM. This manufacturing technology leverages Solugen's chemienzymatic process to convert biobased feedstocks into high performance products for water treatment, agriculture, infrastructure, and personal care.     MISSION AND OUTCOMES:

    The Technology Rotational Development Program's (TRDP) mission is to identify and cultivate future leaders for Solugen's Enzyme Engineering, Strain Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering. Over the course of the 18 months, this employee will rotate through all three departments to experience every flavor of bioengineering, matching to a single department at the end of the rotation.

    Key Outcomes for this role are:

    1. Contribute to the development of 1 enzyme mutant

    2. Contribute to the development of 1 production strain

    3. Contribute to the development of 1 fermentation or bioseparations process

    COMPETENCIES

    Job Specific

    • Experience with bioinformatics preferred
    • Experience with protein biochemistry preferred
    • Experience with cell and strain manipulation preferred
    • Experience with bioprocessing preferred
    • Experience with automation preferred
    • Analytical approach to problem solving, with a focus on managing a team environment with attention to results and a sense of urgency
    • Attention to detail and organization.
    • Good communication, negotiation, leadership, and project management skills with the desire to further develop these skills as the company grows.
    • Commitment to safe workplace goals and practices that ensure operational integrity, including compliance with all regulatory policies and procedures.
    • Comfortable following safety protocols and wearing personal protective equipment—including hard hats, gloves, earplugs, and respirators--in work zones.
    • Good familiarity with Office products as well as a general level of comfort with online communication and work management platforms such as Dropbox, Google Doc, and Slack.

    • BS in Chemical/Biochemical/Bioprocess Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, or similar degree
