    Solugen, Inc. is a revolutionary technology company seeking to use biology to transform the chemicals industry. Solugen was founded in 2016 and is a post-Series B venture-backed startup company supported by renowned venture capital firms including Founders Fund, Fifty Years, Refactor, and Y Combinator. Located in Houston, Texas, Solugen is currently scaling up its manufacturing facility to use its chemienzymatic process to manufacture biobased chemistries for water treatment, agriculture, and personal care. Solugen currently has 50+ full time employees.

    MISSION

    Solugen is changing the chemicals industry with its bio-based manufacturing platform.  As part of our plan to scale and grow, we are seeking a qualified marketing development representative to find and screen potential customers who can benefit from our chemistries in the energy sector and beyond. As the first line of communication with prospects, ideal marketing representatives have a strong understanding of the sales process, excelling at starting new relationships and setting our sales team up for success. You should be a quick learner with strong organizational and communication skills and be able to showcase our chemicals offerings. Every potential customer is an opportunity for you to boost top-line revenue growth, customer acquisition metrics, and profitability.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Represent our company's products, starting with a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and identify how our solutions meet those needs
    • Identifying new sales outlets, generating leads, and building relationships by nurturing warm prospects
    • Manage and maintain a pipeline of interested prospects and engage sales team for next steps
    • Identify best practices to refine the company's lead generation playbook

    Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

    • Utilize CRM, cold calling, and email to generate new sales opportunities
    • Identify prospect's needs and suggest appropriate products/services
    • Build long-term trusting relationships with prospects to qualify leads as sales opportunities
    • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market
    • Set up meetings or calls between prospective customers and sales team
    • Report to sales ops lead with weekly, monthly, and quarterly results

    COMPETENCIES

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and at least 1-2 years of relevant work experience
    • Strong communication skills via phone and email
    • Proven creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills
    • Strong desire and ability to move up within a sales organization

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Proficiency with Salesforce or other CRM software
    • Prior experience as a sales development rep with a track record of achieving sales quotes
