    The ideal candidate will lead and execute the product development activities for industrial and institutional cleaning chemicals (I&I), personal care, agrochemicals (AgChem) such as chelated micronutrients, liquid fertilizers, and water treatment formulations.  He/she is expected to have his/her hand wet in the lab (70-80% of the time will be spent in the lab working with other scientists) She/he will have the following responsibilities:

    OUTCOMES

    • Work closely with the VP of Product to develop new products based on customer feedback

    • Take complete ownership of Solugen's product development from concept to commercialization

    • Become the Formulation Subject Matter of Expert (SME) in Solugen. He/she follows the development of competing products and subsequently develops short-term and long-term roadmaps for cleaning, personal care, and ag chemicals

    • Develop protocols for product formulation, in-house testing, 3rd party lab testing, and field trial testing

    • Manage relationships with external consultant(s), third-party lab(s), Contract Research Organizations (CROs)

    • He/she is expected to have his/her hand wet in the lab (70-80% of the time will be spent in the lab working with other scientists).

    • Map the competitions and design a study to compare Solugen products with incumbents

    • Lead the third-party laboratory interaction to validate Solugen's product performance

    • Lead the greenhouse testing and field trial process in conjunction with Contract Research Organizations (CROs)

    • Have the capability to design and execute quick, preliminary in-house experiments to compare performance of Solugen's chemistry to incumbents

    • Review internal and external testing data and make recommendations on next steps

    COMPETENCIES 

    • Bachelor's degree or PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
    • Demonstrated track record of developing bio based chemicals from concept to commercialization
    • 10-15 years of experience in formulating with surfactants, polymers, solvents, emulsifiers for personal care, industrial/institutional cleaning,
    • Strong communication and project management skills
    • Is a curious & self-starter individual who can thrive in a start-up environment
    • Must be nimble and able to multi-task
    • Has excellent communication skill set and can represent Solugen in conferences or in customer meetings
    • She/he is based in Houston/Sugarland area
    • Critical thinker who can utilize their experience and quickly draw conclusions based on incomplete data. He/she is not afraid to propose and try new ideas and methods
