We are looking for a QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER. This is a direct-hire opportunity based in Los Angeles, CA.
The ideal candidate will serve as the quality gate-keeper for custom, in-house software solutions for the firm as well as be responsible for supporting/testing existing web applications to the firm’s requirements. The candidate will work with the development team to test these solutions both manually and with automation leveraging Ruby Mine or similar web-based automation technology, and will be expected to provide feedback on User Experience (UX).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years of practical experience testing extensive web based systems.
- Individual must be able to work well with the existing team of developers and engineers, have excellent communication and troubleshooting skills, and be able to handle multiple projects and support requests.
- Candidate must demonstrate a solid grasp of quality assurance methodologies utilized in software development. Most importantly, the candidate must demonstrate a strong eye for detail.
EDUCATION
PREFERRED: Bachelor’s Degree
MAJOR: Computer Science or related discipline
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION
PREFERRED: Microsoft or other similar Certification in Quality Assurance/Software Development methodology and automation
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ENSURE HIGHEST QUALITY FOR ENTERPRISE-LEVEL APPLICATIONS
- Work directly with Developers and Project Manager/Supervisor to ensure requirements are met and that newly-developed code is bug-free.
- Provide first-level troubleshooting of issues reported by users.
- Participate in all meetings with stakeholders to gain a full understanding of functional requirements.
- Create a suite of automated tests for assigned web-based systems which can be run on-demand or scheduled.
COMPUTER/SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Scrum software development methodology with Microsoft Team Foundation Server or similar system such as Jira
- Ruby Mine, Selenium or similar web-based automation technology
- Web debugging tools (Chrome, Edge)
- Ability to test on multiple platforms – full browsers, mobile devices, etc.
- Ability to navigate complex web-based systems
PREFERRED: T-SQL
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
- The Quality Assurance Engineer will attend daily team stand-up meetings to review progress, access our work-tracking system (Microsoft Team Foundation Server) and clear items from the test queue by performing manual or automated testing, and be present for deployments for basic smoke, regression and functional testing.
- On a regular basis the Quality Assurance Engineer will create work items for bugs found as well as User Experience enhancements.
- Daily work involves frequent collaboration/communication with each member of the Application Development Team.
