    TEAM DETAILS

    The Chemical Industry is a core industry for SAP with a long and rich history dating back to 1972 and SAP’s very first customer - ICI. Today, 99 of the top 100 global chemical companies run SAP, along with nearly 6,000 mid-market chemical manufacturers around the world. The Chemical Industry Business Unit (IBU) is a strategic part of SAP’s Energy & Natural Resources sector which is one of the largest and most important sectors in the company.

     

    The Chemicals IBU team is responsible for defining and ensuring the delivery of end-to-end IT solutions for the Chemical industry which address current and future customer needs, enable the sales and consulting organization and support strategic deals and implementations. The IBU is the global entity that represents SAP in the Industry and is targeting for sustainable business growth, customer satisfaction and solution completeness.

     

    The main responsibilities of the Solution Specialist – IBU Chemicals will be to execute on the Chemical Industry plan for the NA region to drive revenues and ensure maximized Return on IT for chemical customers in the region. The solution manager will also work within the existing team environment to leverage existing and to-be-developed SAP products to compile solutions that will build on SAP’s existing footprint in the chemical industry.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Thought Leadership: Leverage chemical industry knowledge and solution expertise to bring innovative thinking to customers’ business problems

    • Industry Content Development and Support: Take the lead in key solution areas (strong focus on Customer Experience and related Supply Chain Management solutions) for the development of rich, industry-relevant content in support of our global GTM for Chemicals. Key assets to be developed for our Solution Explorer, enablement events (Customer Success Summit, ASUG SAP Best Practices for Chemicals, SAPPHIRE, etc.) and deal lifecycles.

    • Industry Go-To-Market: Build, drive and refine the Go-To-Market model for the NA Region primarily together with our internal and external Ecosystem.

    • Deal Support & Best Practice Sharing: Support deal activity with deep chemical industry and solution expertise which helps to expand deal value and accelerate deal closure.

    • Portfolio Adaptation: Leverage a detailed understanding of customer business processes and requirements to produce chemical solutions that support the vision of SAP Chemicals. Influence and provide direction to cross industry or Line of Business development teams for solution realization (market definition, business case, solution definition, development, and go- to-market.

     

    EDUCATIONAL AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree (preferably in chemical-related area)

    • MBA or similar experience beneficial

    • Firm and broad understanding of and experience with chemical company business processes.

    • Experience across various business functions, including product management, sales, consulting, development, channels/partners and business development, strategy.

    • Prefer prior experience with SAP product portfolio.

    • Prefer previous hands-on experience at a leading Chemical, Petrochemical, or Life Sciences Company (or similar).

    • Highly Desirable – Experience as a business development or solution manager, product manager or similar in the chemical information technology industry.
