This position works closely with the Company’s Executive Team and is responsible for ensuring that the company’s finance department runs smoothly.  The Controller supervises the Company’s finance staff and is responsible for financial reporting.  This position is characterized by a high degree of working knowledge and understanding of accounting principles while utilizing that knowledge in the daily processing, monitoring, and control of the Company’s accounting and finance related activities.  Qualified candidates must be detail oriented, have a positive attitude, excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite specifically Excel.  This position reports to the Director of Finance.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee closing procedures and prepare GAAP based financial statements
• Coordinate year-end financial statement audit
• Act as the liaison between the finance department and other departments to resolve problems and/or respond to inquiries regarding general ledger and/or accounting related questions
• Work closely with the Director of Finance in the preparation of budgets and projections
• Identify and resolve problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective procedures
• Assign duties to finance department employees, examining their work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures
• Communicate and coordinate accounting policies, practices, and procedures with department and company managers and officials, vendors, reporting agencies, clients and customers
• Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates and quality of work
• Directly supervise a team of employees in the finance department in accordance with company policies and applicable laws; responsibilities include:
  • Interviewing, hiring and training employees
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Monitoring attendance records and timecards
  • Appraising performance
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Accounting plus CPA certification
• 2+ years of public accounting experience (big four preferred)
• Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Understanding of SaaS-based revenue recognition rules
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in handling duties for a fast paced, high volume company
• Self-starter, quick learner, highly motivated
