    Job Title: Solutions Application Engineer

    Position Location: Itasca, IL

    Approx. Length of Position: Direct Hire

    Degree Required: Bachelors or Master of Civil Engineering degree, or Architecture or relevant AEC industry experience

    The Application Engineer role centers on being a technical specialist for Autodesk design software relevant to the Architecture, Engineering, Geospatial, and Construction (AEC) industries, with an emphasis on Civil Engineering and Surveying.

    This position provides both pre- and post-sale technical support to customers, acting as the primary technical resource during the sales process and training assistance after software acquisition. Working closely with Sales Representatives, you will develop and execute technical workflows relevant to our customers which may include customer meetings and site visits.

    Overnight travel may be necessary for on-site support and training, approximately 20%.

    Requirements:

    Minimum 3 years of hands-on Autodesk AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) experience. Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Must have a working skillset of 7+ on a scale of 10 for these products.

    Either passed the Autodesk Certified Professional for Civil3D exam or learn the skills to do so within 6 weeks of hire.

    Ability to achieve Autodesk Certified Instructor status within three months of hire.

    Some experience with drones is a plus, but not a requirement.

    Understanding of geospatial workflows and drone technology in a professional context.

    Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Will be required to give a sample presentation during the interview process.

    Ability to travel frequently for client meetings and site visits. Approximately 20% overnight travel.

    Technical / Software skills:

    Proficiency in the basic technical skills:

    Software Training & Technical Support: Provide essential training and technical support for key software solutions, with a strong emphasis on Autodesk Civil 3D. The candidate will be required to obtain Autodesk Certified Professional in Civil 3D and maintain Autodesk Certified Instructor status. This certification process can occur after hire within a designated time.

    Technical Support & Client Engagement: Collaborate extensively with sales and technical teams to analyze client requirements, identify technical challenges, and recommend tailored products or solutions.

    Solution Presentations and Technical Demonstrations: Develop and deliver compelling technical demonstrations and presentations to prospective clients. You will translate complex features into clear, tangible benefits that drive sales, highlighting the value of our solutions, including enterprise drones and SLAM scanners for geospatial applications.

    Technical / Software skills:

    Proficiency in the basic technical skills:

    Strong understanding of drone technology

    Provide essential training and technical support for key software solutions, with a strong emphasis on Autodesk's AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The ability to obtain and maintain Autodesk Certified Instructor status is required for this role, though this certification process can occur after your hire.
