    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Vallen’s Sr. Programmer Analyst is an individual contributor focused on all aspects of integration, infrastructure and support services migration, planning and execution through extended teams, user training and support, change management and alignment with tactical and strategic business goals.  They drive and implement change and continuous improvement while maintaining breadth and depth of technical expertise and perspective, utilizing enterprise and industry/market trends.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Correct installation and running of assigned software
    • Develop and maintain positive relationship with Infor and other vendors with whom interaction is required
    • Ability to manage and resolve issues related to assigned software and equipment
    • Perform necessary system administration functions including but not limited to installing and configuring printers, adding and updating Linux users, and clearing lock initials
    • Determine and isolate software, hardware and communication problems
    • Troubleshoot and resolve peripheral operation issues on printers, terminals, multiplexers, routers, switches, and modems
    • Provide advanced technical support to Vallen personnel
    • Coordinate with software vendors to resolve issues beyond internal capabilities
    • Provide limited support on other operating systems such as Microsoft Windows
    • Documentation of system support procedure
    • Timely and working user and printer setups
    • Vallen associate satisfaction of issue resolution
    • Develop and maintain positive relationship with Infor and other vendors with whom interaction is required
    • Up-to-date documentation of assigned system support procedures

    SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

     AUTHORITY:

    • Review software Development Requests and update requests to include time, priority, and expected delivery dates for the design, programming and testing phases
    • Meet with departments to analyze computer needs and solve operational problems by modifying and enhancing hardware, software and procedures
    • Design screens, forms, and reports, and write and modify programs according to the specifications for new systems
    • Make program changes in accordance with established company standards and practices
    • Standardize and document all source code generated internally
    • Design and prepare data necessary for the proper testing of computer programs
    • Develop technical documentation as needed for new systems prior to implementation
    • Install, test, debug, and implement projects as they are developed for production and as problems arise
    • Manage vendor-made custom modifications from point of delivery to the SX.e test environment through installation in the production environment as assigned
    • Review all in-house custom modifications during a version upgrade to ensure seamless integration with the new code
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the applicable programming languages and techniques, as well as file access methods generally used in the department
    • Maintain a general knowledge of all major systems within the departments
    • Perform and coordinate the technical evaluation of software packages as assigned
    • Provide technical assistance and support to the Information Technology team in the use, maintenance, and programming of computer systems, to include explaining system capabilities and available enhancements
    • Perform special technical projects, as well as emergency maintenance on activities requiring special knowledge or experience at both a systems and application level
    • Maintain compliance with change management
    • Request and evaluate data on relevant upcoming software releases and new technology

    • Timely delivery of requested modifications working as designed.
    • Vallen associate satisfaction with new functionality provided by implemented modifications.
    • Vallen associate satisfaction with support and education provided for programmed modifications.
    • Compliance with procedures related to change management.

    • Standardization and documentation of internally generated source code

     

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Education requirement:  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related subject matter preferred; other equivalent on the job training or technical subject matter expertise may be substituted for formal education. Relevant technical experience and skills should include:

    • Required SX.e application knowledge
    • Progress database administration experience
    • Knowledge of Linux RedHat Operating System
    • SQL skills
    • Hyperion application knowledge
    • Proficiency with F9, Financial Reporting
    • Knowledge of all products within the Microsoft Office suite
    • Strong technical and/or functional trouble shooting skills
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently in a matrix organization
