    GENERAL MAINTENANCE JOURNEYMAN MECHANIC

     

    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    We currently have openings for General Maintenance Journeyman Mechanic candidates who has a passion for safety, is a self-starter, takes initiative, can communicate effectively, and can work independently in a manufacturing environment.     This position performs mechanical troubleshooting in a heavy industrial environment. Specific skills necessary include calibration, troubleshooting, proper repair, precision installation, successful start-up, and reliability of all related facility equipment. 

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Commitment to safety and quality
    • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
    • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
    • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
    • Ability to learn through self-directed study and desire for advancement
    • Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
    • Operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
    • Excellent attendance record with flexibility to work rotating shifts & overtime
    • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
    • Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
    • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
    • Maintains cooperative working relationships, demonstrates a positive attitude and consideration towards fellow employees and supervision.
    • Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision.

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum Journeyman skill level experience in industrial mechanical systems.
    • Mechanical includes experience in the following areas: Rotating Equipment, Bearings, Precision alignment, Product Moving Systems, Power Transmissions, Oil Seals, Mobile Equipment, and Gear Reducers.
    • Pulp and Paper industry experience a definite plus.
    • Industry experience is a plus.

     

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification is preferred.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age

     

    SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

    • General schedule is a Monday through Friday 8-hour assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

     

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.

    • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.

    • Lifting up to 50 lbs.

    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.

    • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.

    • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.

    • Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)

    • Ability to operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
