  • Responsibilities

    This role will be focused on optimizing engineering effectiveness and efficiency by refining procedures and supporting documentation. This position will work closely with the leaders of the Packaging Machinery Division to develop and implement best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction. 

    The successful candidate will provide support for process improvement projects including, but not limited to, redevelopment of the ‘engineering manual’, engineering processes, design standards, component standardization, CI projects, metrics and KPIs,

    The position requires a self-starter who is self-directed, takes initiative to move forward with ideas, and is committed and able to work with and influence others. The ideal candidate must learn quickly and be proficient at analyzing data.

    The position will also provide the path for an engineer to provide benefits to the machinery group while being able to gain knowledge of packaging machines, preparing for them to move into various other roles within the Packaging Machinery Division such as design engineering, sales, or estimating.

     RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

    • Management of the ‘Engineering Manual’. This is a primary focus for this position. The manual needs continual updating to remain current with our business, safety, technology and other standards. The ‘Engineering Manual’ is a general term that refers to the documentation and systematic distribution of information of all the following items. The term ‘management’ infers tasks of working with others to determine content, composing, training, and electronic distribution of said manual.

    • Management of ‘Engineering Processes’. Processes must align with ISO certification requirements. Must align with Quality Procedures,

    • Management of ‘Design Standards’. Design standards are written for the most common design elements in GPI machinery including safety standards.

    • Management of ‘Component Standards’. Assist with the component standardization task, creating the guidelines for the standardization effort and working with assigned engineers and purchasing personnel on their component groups.

    • Key participant in any CI Project involving engineering

    • Work with engineering management team and Quality Supervisor in developing and managing performance metrics and KPIs. Work as facilitator within engineering to ensure processes and procedures are being followed and according to schedule.

    • Provide training to new hires in engineering processes and standards

    • Assist with data integrity in ‘Manage’ (engineering’s data management system) and ‘Monday.com’ (engineering’s project management system) and assist with system scheme enhancements and changes.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree –Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or other engineering discipline
    • 5 years engineering experience, with a strong preference for machine design experience
