    Independent Electric Supply, Inc. (IES) opened in 1976 with ten employees to serve electrical contractors working in the high-tech aerospace industry. Today, IES operates 16 electrical supply branches in the Northern California area, San Francisco Bay area, Central Valley, Central Coast and 7 locations throughout Arizona.  IES focuses on traditional electrical supply with dedicated specialists in lighting, switchgear, wire management, tool & safety, renewable energy and enhance logistics solutions to meet specific customer needs.  Employing more than 525 people and managing over 1 million square feet of warehouse space, IES is one of the strongest electrical distributors in the markets we serve.

    In August 2011, IES was acquired by Sonepar USA consisting of the finest locally managed electrical and industrial distributors throughout the United States.  Sonepar is the world leader in electrical distribution.

    Work directly with outside sales to collect and compile customer information, project details and specifications to assist in producing a competitive and accurate proposal.  Provide supplier business partners with complete information to accurately and completely quote projects and to ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.   Consistently seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relations.

    MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

    • Receive factory quotes and compile in Eclipse or Cahill system.
    • Coordinate with sales to establish sell price.
    • Prepare submittals for customer and engineering review.
    • Create pick tickets, purchase orders and tracking logs.
    • Track delivery dates and coordinate timely delivery to job sites.
    • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate.
    • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
    • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
    • Manage project budget.
    • Understand IES pricing model and billing procedures.
    • Assure project legal documents are completed and signed.
    • Identify business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
    • Effectively convey our message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
    • Effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors.
    • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
    • Participate in training classes.
    • Perform any other duties assigned that contribute to customer service, branch profitability and company success.

    Required Skills

    • Understand Internet, Intranet and Eclipse.
    • Acknowledge and appreciate each team member’s contributions.
    • Develop lasting relationship with client personnel.
    • Communicate effectively.
    • Seek and participate in development opportunities above and beyond training required by us.
    • Keep informed of quote opportunities.
    • Proficient in Excel. Must be able to create a working spreadsheet

    Required Experience

    • Two to four years’ of relevant business or industry-specific experience.
    • Broad knowledge of product line and pricing.
    • Proven ability to learn our business and to work independently to achieve goals.
    • Professional appearance and demeanor.
    • Excellent phone, customer service and written/oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Eclipse preferred.
