    Sonnets Academy is seeking an experienced full time Early Childhood Co-Teacher to join our Infant Classroom (6 weeks to 15 months old). Sonnets Academy is seeking a kind, imaginative, and experienced preschool teacher. This warm and patient individual should have creativity and lots of passion for the field of Early Childhood Education.

    Our Early Childhood Co-Teacher is responsible for working alongside another Co-Teacher to create their own curriculum lessons in alignment with our developmental curricular goals and fostering open communication with parents, consistently about progress, schedules, and individual achievement. This position works in collaboration with the Director, Education Coordinator and the other members of the infant classrooms. You’ll help provide a child-centered, play-based curriculum, which reflects best practices in the daycare industry.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster a play based and structured environment

    Arrange indoor and outdoor play spaces that facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safe peer interactions

    Maintain a safe, organized classroom that supports each child’s independent learning

    Assesses and reports using curricular checklists, anecdotal notes and narratives throughout the year that effectively and accurately communicates the child’s progress

    Meet the needs of the whole child and support the social and emotional growth of all children

    Instruct the Assistant Teacher for the purpose of providing an effective and efficient classroom environment and addressing the needs of individual students

    Attend and participate in age group team collaborative meetings, whole staff meetings, classroom team meetings and cross age group team meetings

    Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with children, parents, staff and community members by communicating in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner

    Qualifications and Skills

    CDA, Associates Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

    Strong knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for 6 weeks to 15 months olds

    Experience creating curriculum lessons for infant age group

    CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification

    Proof of up to date physical, TB Test, and immunizations

    Food Mangers License or Food Handlers Training Certificate

    Must be a team player and eager to work with others

    Excellent organization skills

    Positive and proactive communication skills

    One or more years of professional experience in an early childhood classroom

    Be open to continual professional development in the field of early childhood

    Must meet and follow all City and State licensing requirements

    Salary dependent on experience and level of education.
