Sonnets Academy is seeking an experienced full time, Early Childhood Kitchen and Food Prep to join our discovery-based preschool! Sonnets Academy is seeking a kind and nurturing candidate with knowledge of City and State Health Codes and experience in a warming kitchen (no cooking). This warm and patient individual should have the ability to multi-task and keep a spotless and sanitary kitchen.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Our Kitchen Prep is responsible for the health and nutrition of our children. The Kitchen Prep will remain in compliance with DCFS and The Chicago Department of Public Health sanitation standards while portioning fun and healthy snacks and meals that are catered in. The Kitchen Prep will also maintain inventory and supply stock of all non-perishable and perishable foods, as well as paper products. This position also serve as a Multi-Room Assistant Teacher for 2-3 hours a day. On a daily basis, this individual would support and work in classroom for children 6 weeks to 6 years old under the supervision and guidance of a Lead Teacher and an Associate Teacher.
Qualification and Skills:
CDA, Associates Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related area
Chicago Department of Public Health Certified Food Service Manager License (different than Food Handlers)
Proof of up to date physical, TB test, and current immunizations
CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain certification
Must be a team player and eager to work with others
Proactive and positive communication skills
Excellent organization skills
One or more years of professional experience in an Early Childhood environment
Must meet and follow all City and State licensing requirements
