We provide secure, high-quality language access in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

We are seeking Sorani Kurdish Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Sorani, one of the two main dialects of Kurdish (primarily spoken in Iraq and Iran), is a priority Middle Eastern language for asylum, refugee, and immigration cases.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Sorani Kurdish ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.

Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in asylum and immigration proceedings.

Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.

Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs.

Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Sorani Kurdish and English.

2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, medical, NGO, or government strongly preferred).

Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality standards.

Familiarity with cultural contexts in Iraqi and Iranian Kurdish communities.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
