About the Role:
Sourcemap is seeking a Research Data Scientist whose main focus will be on data management and quality control of research-related data for downstream analytics. This position will be joining our Data Science and Analytics team within the Product Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in crafting data standards and governance, and finding creative analytics and data science solutions to challenges in supply chain research.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support research initiatives, data discovery, cataloging, and quality efforts serving as the guardian and purveyor of the “source of truth” for Sourcemap data assets.
- Implement processes that validate data, as well as monitor for and prevent future data quality issues.
- Build and maintain data formatting and processing pipelines for standardized analytical workflows for both research and business intelligence analyses.
- Take ownership of data documentation that describes the qualities of the data and how it can be used for downstream analytics.
- Apply statistics and applied mathematics and train machine learning models to uncover ulterior properties of the next generation of products to drive investigation and creation.
- Prototype or assess and introduce novel technical solutions aimed at improving data management efficiency.
- As part of the data science and analytics team, create insights and develop dashboards that guide decision making.
Key Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and Python, demonstrated through either work experience, coursework (university courses, bootcamps) or a portfolio (e.g. Github).
- Ability to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify solutions.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams to dissect complex problems as they drive toward simple, effective solutions.
- Understanding of data structures, processing, and mining techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, reliably complete tasks and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
- 1+ years demonstrated proficiency using a visual analytic software (Power BI, Tableau, Google Studio, D3 or ChartJS).
- Familiarity or experience with navigating data ecosystems (data warehouses, data lakes, structured and unstructured data, varied file types, BI systems).
Aptitude for and willingness to learn new tools and technologies as driven by business needs.
Ability to work independently in a remote, team environment.
Excruciating attention to detail - you love spotting inconsistencies and moving towards a sensible source of truth.
- Experience in the supply chain industry, a plus.
