The Opportunity
The Sourcing Manager is responsible for defining and executing multi-year category strategy roadmap on assigned component categories to include all facets of strategic procurement, including but not limited to: value creation, cost reduction, alignment with business strategy, risk mitigation, and supplier performance.
Responsibilities:
- Implement category, negotiation, and sourcing strategies of assigned material categories in alignment with business and manufacturing short-term and long-term objectives
- Identify, analyze and develop the appropriate supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs, taking into consideration new technologies, end of life product cycles, and site localization objectives
- Direct and execute the negotiation and management of contracts/agreements for assigned commodities with medium to high risk and medium to high complexity
- Provide guidance and support to the manufacturing site(s) purchasing team for clear alignment on category strategy execution, supplier communications and messaging, supplier performance escalations, and other supply chain activities
- Develop clear risk identification and management strategies for short and long term with defined risk/benefit analysis in support of Supply Resilience initiative
- Perform analyses of costs related to labor rates, charges, time, and cost of materials
- Monitor supplier capability and performance to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, price, and other contractual commitments
- Maintain and promote sound relationships with extensive network of suppliers and business community. Connects other team members with potential suppliers
- Lead projects to ensure all procurement activities are performed as required
- Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback, continuous improvement, and innovation
- Develop cross-functional teams to understand and to document division-wide needs
- Understand, track, and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities
- Comply market condition information regarding commodities and suppliers and suggest/implement business strategy changes
- Responsible for the development of materials policies and procedures
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in purchasing/commodity management.
- Strong experience in negotiating terms in purchasing agreements.
- In-depth experience in contract management.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to travel approximately up to 20%, including internationally.
