We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team and help us deliver outstanding dining experiences in a dynamic, high-end event environment.
Position Overview: The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, maintaining the highest food quality and consistency, leading kitchen staff, and ensuring an efficient, clean, and safe working environment. This role is vital in supporting the execution of menus for weddings, corporate events, tastings, and private functions at the Mansion.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including food preparation, production, and service.
Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring consistent standards of quality and presentation.
Assist in creating and executing menus for a wide range of events, ensuring dishes meet client expectations and Ceresville Mansion standards.
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including inventory management, and ordering.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment following health and safety regulations.
Monitor portion and waste control to optimize food cost.
Step in and lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Collaborate with the Events and Banquet teams to ensure seamless service during events.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within a fine dining, catering, or event-driven environment.
Culinary degree or equivalent professional training is preferred.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, menu planning, food costing, and kitchen operations.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a commitment to quality and detail.
Knowledge of food safety standards and ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain).
Flexible schedule, including availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs.
