Position Overview
The Sous Chef is a key member of our kitchen leadership team, working closely with the Head Chef to oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality food preparation, and maintain a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, and a hands-on approach to mentoring kitchen staff while upholding the restaurant’s standards of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in menu development, recipe testing, and food presentation.
- Oversee line operations, ensuring consistent quality, flavor, and plating.
- Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
- Maintain proper inventory levels, conduct ordering, and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Step in as acting head chef in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Uphold and enhance the Courthouse brand through consistency, creativity, and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant; previous leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and train a diverse team.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
- Passion for food, hospitality, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
- Food handler’s certification (or ability to obtain) prior to start date.
