Private family seeks an experienced and adaptable Live-in Butler to provide exceptional service in their semi-formal, kosher household in Southampton, NY. This role is based primarily in Southampton, with occasional travel to NYC and Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will have a hospitality-driven mindset, seamlessly combining refined service with hands-on household support. The position requires the ability to anticipate needs, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with a long-standing, loyal staff.
This is a live-in position offering private accommodations in a newly renovated apartment, along with a staff vehicle provided for work duties. The schedule is six days per week during the summer months, with a lighter schedule of four days per week in the winter. The household operates at a high standard, particularly during the busy summer season, when the property takes on a resort-like atmosphere. Key responsibilities include food and beverage service, pet care, light cooking, coordination with staff, oversight of property and household care, and providing attentive guest services in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide both formal and informal food and beverage service for principals, family members and guests, including light breakfast preparation and occasional basic bartending
- Coordinate daily household priorities with the Estate Manager and Principal
- Support housekeepers during busy summer months; performing heavier housekeeping duties in the winter
- Oversee and assist with guest arrivals, departures, and concierge requests
- Pet care for two dogs, including feeding, walking, and general well-being
- Drive principals and guests as needed using the provided staff vehicle
- Manage personal shopping, errands, and seasonal gift wrapping
- Liaise with vendors, service providers, and seasonal staff
- Maintain residence readiness, ensuring all spaces are pristine and organized
- Coordinate with staff on special events, holidays, and family gatherings
- Maintain and monitor household inventory and supplies
- Perform additional butler duties as requested
Requirements:
- Strong command of English language with outstanding writing and verbal communication skills
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers required
- Minimum 5 – 7+ years related experience in a private home, luxury hotel, or hospitality setting
- Tagalog fluency is a MAJOR PLUS
- Exceptional organizational skills and dedication to responsibilities, with an “above and beyond” attitude
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Polished, poised, and professional in both mindset and manner, use of utmost discretion at all times
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and self-directed with exceptional follow-through
- Must be comfortable with children and pets
- Flexible schedule with willingness to work long hours during peak season, including “on call” availability for urgent matters
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record; ability to drive long distances when necessary
- Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer
Compensation: $115,000 per annum, with opportunity for growth
