    OVERVIEW: The core mission of Southeastern College is to provide quality career education and skill development to aspiring individuals pursuing a career, or advancement in their chosen field.

    BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS: Faculty are responsible for leveraging their expertise to deliver education services to students through: •Facilitating student learning, professional development, and engagement. •Working one-on-one with students. •Utilizing a variety of assessment and evaluation strategies to enhance early intervention for students demonstrating academic need.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepare Course Plans and Materials: •Review the Course Control Document (CCD) •Prepare the course syllabus based on the CCD to meet the course objectives. •Create lesson plans based on the syllabus. •Create exams, quizzes, and projects/assignments utilizing available technology and educational resources. •Actively participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum. •Collaborate with other nursing faculty members to identify resources and coordinate with the librarian and bookstore for availability of those materials. •Collaborate with nursing faculty in the development, implementation, and integration of clinical/simulation activities.

    Deliver Courses: •Maintain professional standards of practice in nursing education. •Meet departmental standards for classroom management, utilization of technology, and records management. •Teach didactic, lab, and clinical classes as needed. •Guide class discussions. •Administer pre-test and post-tests. •Maintain rigor in the grading of assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams. •Incorporate a variety of teaching methods into the delivery of course content. •Use various classroom assessment techniques to identify student learning needs. •Utilize the features in the education software to identify content needing clarification. •Provide progress reports/mid-term feedback. •Maintain gradebook on a daily basis. •Enforce institutional policies (behavior, attendance, dress code, no food and drink, etc.).

    Simulation: •Collaborate with faculty in the integration and implementation of simulation activities. •Maintain equipment, supplies and manikins. •Integrate technology into evidence-based scenarios for simulated clinical experience. •Collect, evaluate and trend simulation performance data on course by course basis as it correlates to student learning outcomes. •Utilize relevant, current research to enhance simulation.

    Monitor Progress/Attendance: •Monitor student progress and follow-up as needed. •Take daily attendance and enforce attendance policy. •Follow-up with students who miss a class (phone calls, texts, and emails). •Report attendance, progress, and behavioral issues to the Nursing Program Director and Dean of Academics as needed.

    Advise Students: •Be available on a weekly basis for student advisement. Provide coaching, counseling, and motivation, as necessary. •Post office hours/availability and be on-site during those posted times. •Be available for one-on-one assistance, and schedule workshops, or tutoring when needed. •Refer to Student Services when appropriate.

    Record Grades and Submit Reports: •Maintain grade books. •Adhere to departmental grading policies. •Provide Nursing Program Director with weekly reports. •Provide students with mid-term evaluations in a timely manner. •Submit final grades on time.

    Other Duties: •Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies and report needs to the Program Director. •Maintain the classrooms/labs. •Maintain relevant licensures and certifications. •Seek out an approved substitute in case of faculty member’s absence. •Teach as a substitute when necessary. •Have a thorough working knowledge of the Handbook. •Mentor new faculty. •Periodically participate in instructor performance evaluations and classroom observations. •Actively participate in policy development related to nursing student admission, progression, and graduation requirements. •Pursue professional development opportunities in nursing education. •Ensure that the faculty development plan is completed as required. •Work with the Dean, Program Director and other Faculty on retention plans and programs. •Participate in graduation ceremonies. •Attend campus faculty meetings. •Attend departmental meetings. •Work with Program Coordinators. •Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums. •Work with other Departments and Directors.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •Must have a current, unencumbered State license as a RN or Compact State RN license valid for practice and teaching in S. Carolina. •MSN or higher nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing •Minimum of four years nursing practical work experience •Minimum two years clinical experience as a registered or advanced practice nurse related to the primary area of responsibility •Experience utilizing, instructing, and monitoring simulation activities •Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality. •Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner. •Must be able to interact in a professional manner with students, peers, and community •Participate in professional development meeting at minimum State continuing education requirements.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting, higher education- teaching environment, community agencies, and healthcare facilities: professionally communicating with coworkers, presenting to a classroom of students (virtual classrooms for on-line), demonstrating procedures and techniques, and getting to and from appropriate classes, offices, community agencies, and healthcare facilities. Reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality is essential as it relates to classes, labs, clinicals, meetings, and posted office hours.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Professional office setting: moderate noise levels; controlled indoor climate. Travel is required for clinical assignments to community agencies and healthcare facilities.     Job Specification Nursing Faculty (Full-time)

    Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. This includes working with the Dean, Program Directors, Program Coordinators, and other campus faculty to ensure consistent and high quality delivery of assigned courses. Below is an inclusive but not exhaustive list of various knowledge, skills, and other characteristics that are necessary for effective performance in the Faculty position.

    -Knowledge: •All Faculty must have the minimum level of education required and relevant expertise within their specific discipline related to the program or specific courses they teach. •Faculty must also have knowledge of:

    Academic instruction/course delivery

    Adult learning

    Course and curriculum development

    -Skills: •Classroom Management – communicating with and facilitating discussions among a diverse range of non-traditional students •Planning – organizing and following a standard course delivery plan

    -Experience: •Experience in an academic environment, and particularly in a career college environment, is of great importance. Work experience in the following areas is highly valued:

    Academic teaching (higher education)

    Career college teaching/management (program/department chair) Professional/executive education (administration)

    Education, Experience, and Training: Faculty delivers courses that are part of standard academic programs. Faculty Members are responsible for ensuring a quality education for students in their course and programs at the campus level. All Faculty should, at a minimum, have the degree required for the specific discipline and have experience and appropriate credentials in their relevant area of academia.
