  • Responsibilities

    The Accounting and Financial Aid Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily financial responsibilities of the school's Accounting Office and Financial Aid Office, such as performing accounts receivable, general bookkeeping, assisting with reconciliation and audits, track and auditing student loan and enrollment data in financial aid systems, assisting applicants through the financial aid process, assisting with refund calculations, and other accounting/financial aid related tasks.

    Duties

    • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
    • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices
    • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
    • Assist applicants through the financial aid process with guidance from financial aid officers
    • Update financial data in appropriate systems to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
    • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
    • Monitor postings related to Title IV payments, VA payments and other student payments
    • Assist with accounting projects and reporting as needed
    • Track and audit student financial aid data in financial aid systems
    • Assist with annual audit as needed
    • Review accuracy and eligibility of transactions to be batch posted each term per school policy
    • Assist in preparing finance related letters, statements, notices and call slips to be provided or mailed to students as necessary
    • Assist with accounting or financial aid related tasks as requested

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields.
    • At least two years of accounting or financial aid experience. Five or more preferred.
    • Knowledge of federal student financial aid preferred, but not required.
    • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge and experience working with Excel and web based applications such as Google Suite.
