  • Responsibilities

    The Associate Program Chair for Information Technology and Cybersecurity is responsible in supporting the oversight and development of the school's Information Technology and Information Systems diploma's and degrees. The programs includes topics related to computer networking (e.g. CCNA), cybersecurity, operating systems (e.g. both Microsoft Windows and Linux), web technologies, databases, and related topics in both classroom and laboratory environments. After an initial screening and training process, eligible candidates may begin instructing available courses on a part-time basis and transition to a full-time role depending on the quality of instruction and ability to perform administrative duties.

    Responsibilities

    Instructional responsibilities include:

    • Instruct diploma and bachelor's students on topics related to computer networking and cybersecurity, including: Cisco CCNA topics, CompTIA A+ and computer fundamental topics, Microsoft Server configuration and administration, network and computer security, firewall technologies, intrusion prevention, wireless technologies, ethical hacking, Linux operating systems, databases, cloud computing, and related subject matter.
    • Develop lesson plans and assessments appropriate to the learning objectives of the instructed courses.
    • Employ effective teaching strategies that promote student engagement and motivation.
    • Participate in meetings to discuss and evaluate curricular issues, and to ensure effective and collaborative decisions across departments.
    • Participate in the development, recommendation, and systematic review of academic policies/procedures, at the program and institutional level
    • Perform lab assisting and inspection of students' lab work.
    • Proctor exams and maintain/report grades for the classes taught.

    Administrative responsibilities include:

    • Develop and foster a vision for the growth and improvement of relevant programs in order to adapt to the needs of the industry and achieve its stated goals: a vision supported by feedback from stakeholders, including students, faculty, and member of the business community.
    • Maintain, modify and improve overall program designs, including the curriculum, lesson plans, syllabi, books, labs, and learning resources utilized in the respective programs.
    • Work with the Dean of Education and faculty members on a regular basis to develop learning outcomes and develop methods for assessing the effectiveness of relevant courses.
    • Maintain and regularly updated all relevant classroom and lab resources.
    • Ensure there are sufficient and qualified faculty to instruct relevant courses.
    • Develop and execute appropriate faculty development programs.
    • Hold regular meetings with current faculty to review relevant policies, procedures and initiatives.
    • Support various administrative offices, including the Admissions and Career Services Office, as necessary to achieve goals that impact the success of the school and its programs.
    • Perform other duties as requested by the Dean of Education.

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or closely related fields.
    • 5 or more years of teaching experience at an accredited college.
    • 5 or more years of industry experience.
    • Preferred experiences: leadership roles in higher education, experience supervising other faculty, experience working with distance learning environments, experience developing or improving instructional labs.
