Job Summary:
Southern Nevada Family Medicine is seeking a seasoned Medical Billing and Coding Specialist with a strong emphasis on Accounts Receivable (AR) to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of experience in medical billing and coding within a family practice environment. This role will focus on ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient management of all billing, coding, and accounts receivable operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Coding:
Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient records.
Ensure compliance with established coding guidelines and regulations.
Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to optimize coding processes.
Billing:
Prepare, submit, and manage claims to insurance companies.
Address and resolve any billing discrepancies or errors.
Monitor and verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
Accounts Receivable Management:
Manage and oversee the accounts receivable portfolio.
Perform diligent follow-ups on outstanding accounts receivable.
Resolve payer denials, partial payments, and appeals effectively.
Customer Service:
Address patient inquiries regarding billing and payment in a courteous and timely manner.
Maintain positive relationships with patients, insurance providers, and colleagues.
Compliance:
Keep abreast of changes in billing and coding regulations and guidelines.
Ensure adherence to state and federal compliance policies, reimbursement guidelines, and third-party payer requirements.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing and coding, specifically within a family practice setting.
Advanced knowledge of medical codes including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
Proficiency in medical billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of medical billing processes and accounts receivable management.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification.
Experience with AR management in a healthcare setting.
