    POSITION FOCUS

     

    Watch your designs come to life! As a Fire Protection Designer II at Southland Industries, you'll experience the excitement of working on fire protection projects in healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets across the country. You’ll work hand in hand with our model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff through all aspects of a project to create a design that is practical, efficient and cost effective.

     

     

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

     

    • Partner with Senior Designers to create innovative fire sprinkler designs for large projects, and lead the production team with small to mid-size projects.
    • Support the team with conceptual design efforts on a variety of significant projects.
    • Oversee the entire fire protection design lifecycle of large projects as it pertains to fire protection including layout, permit procurement, field surveys, fabrication lists, RFI creation, and as-builts.
    • Work together with project managers, estimators, architects, and other trades through the completion phase of a project.

     

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

     

    • An entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done.
    • An ability to work in a collaborative environment with other team members
    • Excellent working knowledge of fire protection design, building codes, types of equipment utilized in the industry, and system operations.

     

    WHAT YOU BRING TO US:

     

    • Proficient knowledge in use of HydraCad or AutoSprink, REVIT, NAVIS and Microsoft Office products.
    • 4 to 6+ years of experience in a related field; two-year certificate from college or technical school in related course work preferred; NICET II desirable or desire to pursue one.
