    Ballard Spahr has an opportunity available for the Manager of Quality Assurance to join our Project Management Office (PMO) in Philadelphia. The PMO is at an exciting point in its evolution.  We have a skilled team across business analysis, UI/UX, and software testing that is maturing alongside project management.  This role presents an opportunity to evolve this team’s position in the firm as we continue to make value investments in technology and business process improvements.  This team supports the firm through high quality user-first design, business analysis, and quality software testing so that the benefit of our investments can be realized.

    This position manages a team of Business Analysts, UI/UX Designers, and Software Test Analysts and is responsible for managing requirements and software testing processes..  The Manager works closely with Project Managers to establish project scope and timelines.

    As the Manager of Quality Assurance, some of the responsibilities you will be responsible for are as follows: 

    • Establish standards for the requirements, UI/UX and testing frameworks, documentation, and management; frameworks must support a diverse approach including waterfall and agile disciplines.
    • Manage a team of Business Analysts, UI/UX Designers, and Software Test Analysts; develops skills, manages assignments, and ensures team-wide success.
    • Manage team-wide resources, including individual and team utilization, individual and team capacity, and timesheets to support both project and operational priorities within the firm.
    • Work with management to provide status, risks, and issues related to project and operational efforts. Work closely with manager to address risks and issues.  Provide updates to IS and firm leadership teams as necessary. Act as administrator of the firm requirements and test management application.
    • Provides analysis of requirement and testing measurements to maintain a quality system process.

    Required Skills

    The selected individual will be self-motivated with strong customer service and team building skills, have an exceptional attention to detail and problem solving skills and a high degree of initiative. Solid communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision on moderately complex tasks, set priorities and manage multiple deadlines are essential. Must be organized with the focus to sustain a high level of quality and consistency at all times, have a passion for driving change and a desire to improve upon delivery processes and standards. 

    Required Experience

    Qualified applicants will have a college degree and 10+ years of experience with Business Analysis, Project Management, Software Testing and/or Implementation and 3+ years of management experience.  Additional years of experience in the absence of a bachelor’s degree will be considered. Demonstrated technology skills needed including software applications.  Must be able to work beyond the standard scheduled hours, as needed. THIS POSITION OFFERS A HYBRID WORK ARRANGEMENT (1 DAY IN THE OFFICE/4 DAYS WORKING REMOTE) WITH THE EXPECTATION TO WORK IN THE PHILADELPHIA OFFICE, AS NEEDED. 

    Experience working with project managers is required.  All project managers are part of the PMO and contribute to its evolution, as does this role.  This evolution includes project intake, portfolio management, governance and communication, budgeting, financial management, resource management, requirements management, UI/UX strategy, and software test management.
