Join Southland Industries as an Early Talent Program Lead and play a pivotal role in identifying, attracting, and developing the next generation of talent for our dynamic organization. The Early Talent Program Lead plays a key role in positioning Southland as an employer of choice by delivering early talent programming to attract university and post-graduate early talent to support hiring initiatives by managing the planning, execution, and reporting of programs for entry-level talent across Southland divisions. This includes Project Engineers, Design Engineers, Safety Coordinators, and other critical entry-level roles. The Program Lead serves as a trusted advisor and partner to HR business partners and leaders across the organization, understanding hiring needs, identifying diverse sources of talent, and being a subject matter expert on matters related to college relations. The Program Lead also manages and owns relationships with vendors and national partners to enhance enterprise sourcing strategies, including event management. As the Program Lead, you will report to our Director of Talent Management and will be part of the Southland Talent Acquisition team and work within the talent management and HR operations teams to develop and manage university program strategies across Southland divisions.



    What you’ll do:

    Recruitment and Sourcing :

    • Spearhead the recruitment and sourcing efforts for early career talent, both from university/campus pipelines and external sources.
    • Employ innovative strategies to identify and attract the best-fit candidates for the organization.
    • Act as the subject matter expert for the talent acquisition (TA)/customer relationship management (CRM) and event management software.
    • Create and update new forms within TA systems for Campus Recruiting.

    Strategic Partnership :

    • Act as a strategic partner to business college recruiting teams, fostering collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.
    • Enhance relationships with academic institutions to strengthen the company's presence and appeal to prospective candidates.
    • Develop the vision for programs, driving feedback and improvements to deliver an exceptional experience for internal and external attendees
    • Manage key stakeholder relationships with HRBPs, recruiting leaders, business leaders, and other key partners to build critical components of the Early Talent Program Strategy
    • Collaborate with the TM and HR Operations directors to create the summer internship program framework.
    • Create, own, and maintain the company internship activity calendar.

    Candidate Value Proposition :

    • Collaborate with the business and marketing team to develop and refine the candidate value proposition and related collateral.

    • Ensure a compelling narrative that resonates with early career talent, highlighting the unique opportunities and benefits of a career with Southland Industries.

    • Partner with marketing to create fun and exciting engagement content and materials.

    University Relationships :

    • Develop and manage relationships with universities, both new and existing, to establish a strong talent pipeline.
    • Work closely with academic institutions to understand emerging trends and align recruitment strategies accordingly.

    Recruiting Analytics :

    • Implement a robust tracking and reporting system for recruiting analytics.
    • Analyze data to gain insights, measure the effectiveness of recruitment strategies, and inform future actions and initiatives.
    • Evaluate ROI and measures of success for assigned programs, and make recommendations for strong program trajectory leveraging internal and external data
    • Manage data, reporting and analysis across college recruiting programs. Provide input and make recommendations into cross-functional analysis of university strategy and initiatives to ensure effectiveness and consistent execution

    Diversity Recruiting :

    • Collaborate with the Talent Management Center of Excellence (COE) to develop a cohesive strategy that drives diversity recruiting efforts.
    • Foster an inclusive environment and support initiatives for career development among early career professionals.
    • Develop innovative and creative ways to retain the best and brightest diverse candidates and increase our competitive advantage

    Partnership with Local Divisions :

    • Work closely with local divisions to develop annual college recruiting and internship program plans.

    • Provide training for recruiters and intern mentors to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for early career candidates.

    • Creating and follow college recruiting project plans and setback schedules to manage program deliverables throughout the recruiting seasons

    • Organize and manage company level program engagement activities, intern program experience, onboarding and offboarding throughout the programs and serve as a point of support for internship program leaders.

    • Effectively preparing business stakeholder, managers and mentors for program attendees and interns’ arrival


    What you’ll need to be successful:

    • Experience in program management, university recruiting experience, and/or event planning in a company/organization
    • Proven track record of successfully sourcing and recruiting early career talent.
    • Clear demonstration of driving results
    • Ability to build influential relationships, internally and externally while also leading and driving change
    • Strong project management skills to include, organizational skills and ability to plan multiple events simultaneously
    • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment, effectively managing time while planning multiple events simultaneously
    • Experience in cross-functional collaboration both internally and externally
    • Experience in creating, cultivating, and managing programs and stakeholder relationships
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive, resilient and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
    • Consultative skills to innovate/help internal clients change the lens on how we recruit
    • Strong strategic thinking and partnership-building skills.
    • Familiarity with diversity recruiting strategies and initiatives.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

    What you bring to the table:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, Talent Acquisition or a related field
    • At least 2 years of experience managing early talent and/or university relations programs.
    • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership.
    • Willing to travel at least 25% of the time for business purposes -- could be more depending on the program cycles.
