    POSITION SUMMARY

    As a Senior Project Manager at Southland, we are looking for people who can be the single point of accountability to lead a team responsible for the delivery of multiple large scale projects including design, scope, cost and schedule. The need for this role is in the Phoenix, AZ area, and we are open to candidates that would relocate for this opportunity

    What you’ll do:

    • You'll be the single point of contact to direct and motivate teams through all phases of multiple large scale projects.

    • You'll use your strong leadership skills and experience to mentor Project Managers and Project Engineers and prepare them for the next step in their profession in keeping with our core value of “People.”

    • You'll develop and implement strategies and plans to ensure your team meets or exceeds the project delivery contractually and financially. Measure and report progress, but don’t just look back. Develop tactics to make sure we stay on track.

    • You'll utilize the latest construction industry trends and pioneer new trends as they emerge.

    • You'll develop and nurture customer relationships beyond a single project – at Southland, we value customers for life.

    What you’ll need to be successful:

    • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, with 15 to 20+ years of experience managing mid to large size MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) projects
    • You must have experience managing multiple large HVAC (MEP) construction projects and have a deep understanding of project financials and schedules. – after all, that’s what we do!
    • You have extensive experience in data center and health care projects
      • This experience needs to include a high degree of knowledge with Process Piping projects
      • The ideal project size experience we are looking for is $10 - $40M
    • You possess an authentic leadership – you’re able to lead by example, with integrity and a real interest in the development of each member of your team
    • You understand what it means to be accountable and take initiative on your projects. Accountability is one of Southland’s highest values
    • You can creatively solve problems. You’ve been in the trenches before. You know what it takes to get the job done and done right for your customer and your company
    • You possess a strong knowledge of systems and utilize it as a guideline for all phases of a project
    • You have the experience and skills to assemble and negotiate complex change orders
    • You can manage the design and detailing process by utilizing target value design and construction standards that meet the intent of customers
    • You're a strong communicator and can effectively interact with the design team, other trade partners, clients and vendors on all aspects of work, consistent with our company core
    • You know how to accurately forecast the financial condition of projects to include estimated final cost and monthly cash flow
    • You have experience with leading the pre-construction phase on designated projects
    • You have the ability to build teams to deliver projects in a timely and cost effective manner
