    Summary

    The IT Technician responds to immediate user support needs in regard to hardware and software installation and trouble-shooting, basic operating system and applications training, and network systems administration. The IT Technician must have good verbal and written communication skills to interact directly with users and other administrators, and to maintain logs, inventories and other records to insure the smooth functioning of the organization on a day-to-day basis.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Completes Daily Activity Log each day and submits to Supervisor.

    Commits to be knowledgeable of companies hardware, software and basic operating system and has a thorough working knowledge of that equipment.

    Provide timely on-site support for problems not resolved using remote methods

    Provide support for common Windows applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe apps, Quickbooks, etc.)

    Troubleshoot and repair common hardware problems to the subassembly level (power supply, hard drive, video graphics card, etc.)

    Manage and maintain business class routers and switches

    Install and maintain DSL, cable, and T1 services; familiarity with business telephone systems.

    Install and expand facilities, including punching down Ethernet jacks, patch panels, etc.

    Education and/or Experience

    Associates Degree in Computer Science of Related Field and two years related experience. Must have advanced understanding of computers, Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel. This position requires strong technical skills and at least two years’ experience in the technical support of small- and medium-size businesses. In addition, excellent customer service and communication skills are a must as this position requires interaction with other team members.
