Long DescriptionWhat is The Spark?Southwire, one of the leading manufacturers of wire and cable used in the transmission and distribution of electricity, has a long history of innovative products and processes, and The Spark Studio located in the Tech Square Community on Georgia Tech’s Campus, a hub for innovation and future-making, nextdoor to dozens of innovative companies, startups and accelerators.The Spark’s primary mission is to enable Southwire to deliver profitable growth in the changing market through collaborative, interdisciplinary project-based work. This work spans research projects by the Spark team and direct partnership with business stakeholders to curate workshops and reports guided by human-centered design activities. What you’ll do The Spark Design Thinking Intern will be part of an experienced team that guides business groups through the research process to develop thoughtful and inspiring insights. Utilizing human-centered design practices, he or she will:● Executing structured research activities from a bespoke blend of methods● Participate in internal and external conversations that may challenge established perspectives of Southwire’s products, services, markets and customers● Synthesize, communicate and present research insights and findings to peers, business teams and business leaders in compelling and immersive ways● Identify opportunities for Spark to help transform Southwire’s business ● Contribute to the team tradecraft in design research and innovation services as well as more mundane tasks like helping prepare the presentations, organize meetings and all the other items it takes to keep an organization humming● Learn and apply human-centered design methodologies and practices Requirements & Qualifications● Possesses comfort and ability to effectively communicate and partner with fellow employees, leadership, customers and other stakeholders through writing and speaking, both face-to-face and digitally ● Demonstrated comfort in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders● The ability to work in self-directed culture, navigate ambiguity and dynamic conditions, and transition quickly between collaborative and individual work● Ability to solve problems creatively● A desire to research and learn about new subjects and technologies in both breadth and depth● A collaborative nature, drawing motivation from effective teamwork Internship Details● This position will work a maximum of 30 hours per week● This single-semester internship would ideally start in May/June, and has the potential to be renewed at the conclusion of the semester InstructionsApply with a resume (including your major and year), cover letter and anything else you wouldlike to include to showcase yourself or your previous experience.Please include your answer to the following prompts in your cover letter in 200 words or less:1.
