Leffler Consulting is seeking an experienced Space Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. The position focuses on the resource planning, analysis, and execution of large space development, acquisition, and operation programs in support of the Agency Program Office, Directorate, and staff components.
One of our clients in Chantilly, VA, needs a Space Systems Engineer for a permanent position.
Position: Space Systems Engineer
Location: Chantilly, VA
Clearance: Top Secret/SCI w/ CI polygraph
Duties:
Manage and develop requirements from higher-level Enterprise governing documents to the Segment level and lower
Support relevant specification development and test planning activities across the enterprise and with development contractors
Lead coordination and completion of segment specification sell-off, along with other verification and validation activities
Coordinate across the Systems Program Office (SPO) for any proposed specification changes and facilitate integration of changes into the baseline
Leverage a variety of software tools, including DOORs, and perform analyses and automation of tasks
Support customer design review, providing technical insight to evaluate developer's design
Lead integration of new capabilities to the program baseline
Manage external interface definition and coordination of changes with external stakeholders and developers
Provide technical insight into evaluations of developer proposals
Support customers in CONOPs development
Support initialization, on-orbit calibration, and validation activities
Support ground site integration and test activities
Liaise with mission analysis and acquisition teams to ensure completeness across the program
Develop productive relationships with development contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts
Required Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including MBSE (Model-Based System Engineering)
Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures
Solid understanding of DoD/IC acquisition and program management processes
Experience in multiple aspects of the program systems engineering life cycle to aid the customer's SPO in the acquisition, verification and validation, and initialization of current programs
