Position Summary

Global Language System (GLS) is seeking an in-house Spanish Interpreter based in Raleigh, NC to deliver high-quality interpretation services across Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI), Video Remote Interpretation (VRI), and On-site interpreting. The ideal candidate is dependable, culturally responsive, and comfortable switching between remote and in-person assignments while meeting client and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Spanish ⇄ English interpretation via:

OPI (telephonic)

VRI (video remote)

On-site consecutive and/or simultaneous (as assigned)

Maintain professional interpreting standards: accuracy, completeness, impartiality, confidentiality

Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled sessions; manage call-ready status for OPI/VRI shifts

Complete all required documentation (timesheets, encounter notes if required by client, service logs)

Follow GLS quality procedures and client-specific protocols (HIPAA, privacy, code of ethics)

Participate in training, QA reviews, and performance coaching as needed

Coordinate with scheduling/operations for assignment confirmations and updates

Required Qualifications

Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English

Interpreting experience in at least one modality (OPI, VRI, and/or on-site)

Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics and confidentiality requirements

Excellent attendance, professionalism, and customer service

Comfortable with technology and virtual platforms (Zoom/Teams or interpreting platforms)

Preferred Qualifications

Healthcare, legal, community, or government interpreting experience

Interpreter training certificate (40-hour or equivalent) and/or industry credentials

Ability to interpret specialized terminology (medical, behavioral health, legal, etc.)

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for on-site appointments

Technical Requirements (for OPI/VRI)

Reliable high-speed internet

Quiet, professional workspace for remote shifts

Ability to use headset and webcam as required
