Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Spanish Medical Interpreters to provide onsite interpretation services at a Federal Correctional Medical Center operated by the U.S. Department of Justice / Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) in Springfield, Missouri.
This is a W-2, Service Contract Act (SCA)–covered position with predictable daytime hours. Employment will begin April 1, 2026, contingent upon our company being awarded the federal contract.
This role is not remote and not a 40-hour position.

Base pay
Plus federally required Health & Welfare benefits
Total compensation equivalent: $50 per hour
Paid federal holidays (when scheduled to work)
Paid sick leave accrued per federal guidelines
W-2 employment (independent contractors not permitted)
Schedule
Part-Time / Near Full-Time (Up to 36 hours per week)
Typical hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday | 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Paid in full one-hour sessions only
Consistent schedule in a secure medical environment
Responsibilities
Provide accurate Spanish ↔ English medical interpretation
Support medical, mental health, legal, and case management encounters
Perform limited written translation of medical or administrative documents
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics
Comply with DOJ/BOP policies and security procedures
Work onsite with healthcare and correctional staff
Required Qualifications
Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
Professional experience as a medical interpreter
Knowledge of medical and legal terminology
Experience in healthcare, hospital, court, government, or correctional settings
Ability to pass a federal background investigation, including:
FBI fingerprinting
Credit check (favorable credit required)
Public Trust clearance
Ability to work onsite in a secure federal facility
Preferred Qualifications
Hospital or inpatient medical interpretation experience
Correctional or forensic healthcare experience
Interpreter certification or formal interpreter training
Behavioral or mental health interpretation experience
Employment Status
