Why Join Us
At St. Mark's, we believe that language opens doors to cultures, perspectives, and meaningful human connection. We're seeking a Spanish teacher who is passionate about language acquisition and cultural exploration, and who delights in guiding students as they build confidence in communication, engage in lively conversation, and deepen their understanding of the Spanish-speaking world. We seek an educator who brings experience, enthusiasm, and skill in teaching Spanish across all levels, from introductory through advanced, with a commitment to thoughtful curriculum design.
Teaching here is more than what happens in the classroom. As a faculty member, you'll also serve as an advisor, coach, and mentor, helping students navigate school, discover new interests, and grow into their best selves. Our community thrives on collaboration and connection, and we're looking for educators who are excited to engage fully in all aspects of residential school life.
You'll be a teacher, mentor, and co-creator of learning. Your role will include:
Teaching introductory to advanced levels of Spanish across grades 9 through 12
Advising a small group of students and fostering their growth—academically and personally
Giving meaningful, timely feedback that challenges and inspires
Collaborating with department colleagues on curriculum design and innovation
Engaging fully in community life: coaching, supervising residential evenings, participating in Saturday classes or programs, and more
A degree in Spanish or a related, interdisciplinary field is essential
Native or near-native language skills in Spanish and English (the flexibility to teach French a plus)
At least some experience teaching at the secondary level (2+ years preferred)
Ability to connect with diverse learners and teach inclusively
A commitment to community, mentoring, and the full life of a residential school
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Comfort with educational tech tools (Google Suite, etc.)
A warm, close-knit community of students and colleagues
Generous benefits: housing, meals, health coverage, tuition remission
Access to campus facilities, from the fitness center to nature trails
A chance to design, experiment, and grow professionally
Daily opportunities to make a difference both inside and outside the classroom
Salary Range (full-time): $40,000 – $80,000. Pay is commensurate with experience.
