UI ENGINEER
We are looking for a web wizard dedicated to user experience to join the Spark Insights team. As an UI engineer, you will design Spark Insights product, obsess over layout, spacing, style, and leverage design systems to create beauty with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc.
Spark Insights is an early stage stealth mode company based in Boston on a mission to develop a broad range of solutions for the insurance industry using big data, advanced modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a key role in Spark Insights product team, you will:
● Collaborate with team members to understand and translates business and functional needs into product requirements.
● Take ownership of the frontend of features, build fast and friction-less customer experience using CSS and React.
● Prototype new features and approaches for experimentation and idea validation
● Contribute to and help drive decisions, initiatives, and coding patterns
● Prioritize your own work and manage timely responses to requests.
● Communicate issue and understands when and how to do so effectively
● Document development efforts through system design flows and user experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● A graduate of a design, computer science, computer graphics, or digital arts related degree program with 1+ years of relevant industry experience.
● Experts in in building frontend sites and/or applications, including experience with modern frontend frameworks
● With working knowledge about CSS and modern frontend development and design tools and techniques, SCSS, Sass or CSS-in-JS equivalent understanding box model and layout techniques
● Understand HTML semantics and why they are important
● Programming experiences in Java or Python is a plus.
● Passionate about clean and performant code with a creative mindset and passion for optimal experiences for other humans
● Experienced in coding for multiple devices, including knowledge and understanding of responsive / adaptive design patterns is a plus.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
