    What you’ll do in this role:

    ? Oversee the production, planning, and distribution operations for the manufacturing plant in conjunction with the Plant Manager.

    ? Assume ownership and accountability for the production plan and execution in components, subassemblies, and finished goods

    ? Address and develop strategies in conjunction with site and technical leadership to overcome operational challenges and constraints

    ? Directly lead a team of up to 3 salaried employees and up to 300 hourly employees across 3 shifts for both molding and assembly.

    ? Provide leadership direction and support to the facility through participation on the plant leadership team and by positively interfacing with production support teams such as Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Scheduling to local team and at the enterprise level.

    ? Ensure a best-in-class Safety, Environmental, and Health culture by leading by example and adhering to and improving upon existing processes and programs.

    ? In partnership with Human Resources, develop associate recognition, succession, and training programs. Establish departmental expectations and drive accountability.

    ? Analyze and improve upon key production metrics that will impact plant performance and efficiencies. Drive process improvements to advance associate safety, improve customer satisfaction, control costs and reduce waste.

    ? Own the department budget, including labor utilization, overtime, material cost variances and new product costing.

    ? Support the development of new products, facility improvements, and capital projects by aligning with the corporate partners and coordinating with internal departments to provide input, resources, and collaboration.

     

     

    What you’ll need to be successful:

    ? Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred. Must be conversational in both languages.

    ? Bachelor’s degree required. Focused in Engineering (highly preferred), Supply Chain, Manufacturing or other related field.

    ? Minimum 5 years of manufacturing/production leadership experience in a plant environment (preferably in an injection molding facility), including working knowledge of manufacturing facets such as continuous improvement, team building, safety, associate relations, quality, and customer service.

    ? Experience in the following functional areas: production planning and scheduling, manufacturing, distribution, raw materials purchasing, inventory planning controls management. Capital management experience, understanding of machines and maintenance requirements.

    ? Experience in initiating and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

    ? Proven leader who thinks and leads with the enterprise in mind. This means breaking down silos, having shared goals, and considering the impact of decisions across all of our functions.

    ? Exceptional communication skills and a passion for leading people.

    ? Ability to help develop/drive strategic improvement initiatives and the willingness and desire to grow into future manufacturing positions and the ability to relocate to other Scott Miracle-Gro locations.

    ? Must be able to effectively multi-task and problem solve in a fast paced environment and the ability to manage, motivate and train others to achieve required goals.

    ? Strong computer skills are required.
