The Site Supervisor will direct and supervise the aggregate and hot-mix asphalt plant operations for the facility with responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, safety, environmental, and other production-related activities. The position ensures compliance with all standards, policies and regulations for a safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product. This position supervises 12 employees.
What you’ll get to do
- Manage all aspects of aggregate and hot-mix asphalt production.
- Provide supervision, along with Area General Manager, of union and nonunion plant personnel.
- Discipline, counsel, train, and develop personnel.
- Administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Manage plant labor resources to optimize productivity.
- Direct production efforts in the most cost-efficient manner and maximize the utilization of equipment and reserves.
- Audit production processes/best practice.
- Maintain company assets in good operational condition and recommend capital replacement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Work with Area operation Manager to develop and manage annual budgets, monitor plant costs, analyze KPI metrics, and P&L activity.
- Ensure adherence to all company and safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Promote a positive and safe work environment and ensure safety compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental laws.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings
- Work cross-functionally with sales, ESH, finance, QC, Labor, HR and other related departments
- Ensure compliance requirement are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing training, monitoring compliance, etc.
- Proactively manage the health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company’s health & safety performance.
Essential Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor of Science degree related field preferred; or the equivalent of relevant education and work experience.
- 3-5 years’ production and supervisory experience with open pit sand and gravel operations and hot-mix asphalt production.
- Must have a working knowledge of aggregate and hot-mix asphalt production and associated equipment, and an extensive understanding of operations and safety requirements for the equipment.
- Must have working knowledge of state and federal employment, safety and environmental laws.
- Proficient with computer and software databases, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Essbase, Kronos Timekeeper, and AutoCAD or similar.
- Knowledge of labor agreements.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) and ability to communicate clear and concise instructions in a professional manner.
- Experience with resolving problems and dealing with difficult situations.
- Excellent organization, planning and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, with minimal supervisor.
