    Production Relief Supervisor

    We're looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of experience in the cement (not concrete) industry and proven experience as a production supervisor or production engineer. Fluency in English is also a must. The salary range for this position is $75,000 or higher based on experience. The bonus is up to 4%, depending on performance. I've also attached our benefits summary.

    Responsibilities:

    • In coordination with the Quarry Manager, this person will discuss daily assignments with both the quarry and the vehicle shop personnel, which include (but are not limited to the following):
      • Conduct the morning safety meeting,
      • Delivers safety talks,
      • Responsible for any follow-up meetings to ensure that the tasks assigned have been accomplished.
    • Provide support to the Production Department on assigned duties and/or in managing the day-to-day needs
    • Fill in for the following positions when there is an absence: Quarry Supervisor, Production Supervisor, and Yard Supervisor.
    • Manage the personnel of the covered department and coordinate with other departments to ensure optimum plant performance, including all wage employees.
    • Responsibilities also include anything within the realm of responsibility that is assigned by the supervisor, whether or not they are specifically covered in this job description.
    • Operate departments to provide the maximum production within the established environmental limits and quality standards.
    • Will be required to be part of the on-call schedule for Quarry, and Production.
    • Follow company standard operating procedures for plant and quarry while ensuring efficient utilization of equipment.
    • Ensure all employees and contractors conduct their tasks in a safe manner consistent with company policies and MSHA regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, plans and programs.
    • Keep records of equipment operation and reasons for production delays in the company database software.
    • Directs personnel to ensure the orderly operation of the plant environment.
    • Ensure that the plant is run in a manner to avoid serious damage to equipment.
    • Make frequent inspections of the quarry and plant, checking equipment operation and employee assignments.
      • Prepare daily time sheets and production reports.
      • Supervise various departments on overtime and weekends in accordance with instructions from appropriate supervisor(s) and/or plant management.
    • Requisition materials, tools and other equipment from stores, as needed, in order to complete assigned duties.
    • Make recommendations regarding equipment problems, personnel problems or safety concerns.
    • Investigate and report on accidents involving employees and equipment.
      • Promote and enforce safe working practices and good housekeeping.
    • Maintain current knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and related plant policies.
    • Seek opportunities to promote and instill an attitude of cost and profit consciousness among fellow employees.

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency from an accredited institution
    • 2 years supervisory experience or 5 years working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, preferred
    • Ability to work rotating shifts to support 24/7 plant operations
    • Must speak English
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
    • Basic computer skills
    • Must be familiar with the entire operation from quarry to cement silos, plus yard responsibilities
    • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to function successfully in a stressful environment

    Physical Requirements:

    • Physical – Light to moderate physical exertion. Some walking and climbing of stairs and ladders in the plant.
    • Visual – Moderate detail. Must be able to read typed letters, computer printouts, computer screens, etc.
    • Hearing – Moderate ability. Must be able to conduct interviews, communicate face to face, communicate by telephone or radio and participate in meetings.
    • Speaking – Must be able to speak clearly & loudly enough to be heard and understood in the plant environment.
    • Extremities – Must be capable of arm, hand and finger manipulation without visual control.
    • Work at heights in elevated locations.
