Production Control Supervisor (US Cement Industry):
General Scope
Operates production equipment of cement manufacturing process and supervises all production activities of the bargaining unit personnel on shift including the Production foreman.
Job Requirements
§ Familiar with cement manufacturing plant equipment.
§ Understands the basics of clinker and cement manufacturing and chemistry.
§ Understand and operate plant equipment with the assistance of an Operator Interface Unit.
§ Independently operates the quarry, raw grinding, pyro-processing and cement grinding systems simultaneously.
§ Able to write reports as required
§ Able to keep his/her equipment and working areas clean, orderly, and safe.
§ Able to comply with the company safety rules and regulations and wear proper protective equipment while on plant grounds.
§ Able to understand and comply with governmental environmental regulation attached to the cement manufacturing process.
§ Performing other duties as assigned
§ Possesses good communications skills
§ Possesses basic computer skills
Job Functions
The PCS is asked to know and handle the manufacturing equipment operation including; equipment names, codes and locations.
The PCS is asked to know the basics of electrical/instrumentation functions including knowledge of field motors, starters, MCC operations; instrumentation measures such as temperature, pressure, current, air flows, opacity, gas emissions; PID controllers; start-up/shutdown interlock sequences; power distribution and energy considerations; regulations and control loops.
The PCS is asked to know and handle the operation of the quarry operation including; equipment start-up, operation and shutdown procedures; safety procedures, environmental procedures; quality control procedures; raw material chemistry; mining, materials crushing, handling and storage procedures.
The PCS is asked to know and handle the operation of the raw material grinding operation including; equipment start-up, operation and shutdown procedures; safety procedures, environmental procedures; power considerations, quality control procedures; raw material blend chemistry; materials conveying, grinding and storage procedures.
The PCS is asked to know and handle the operation of the clinker manufacturing operation including; equipment start-up, operation and shutdown procedures; safety procedures, environmental procedures; power considerations, energy considerations, quality control procedures; fuel chemistry and properties; clinker chemistry; materials pyro-processing, cooling, conveying and storage procedures; knowledge of the thermo chemical process of clinker production including knowledge of chlorine alkali and sulfur cycles.
The PCS is asked to know and handle the operation of the cement manufacturing operation including; equipment start-up, operation and shutdown procedures; safety procedures, environmental procedures; power considerations, quality control procedures including ASTM specifications and company specifications; cement chemistry and physical properties; materials grinding, conveying and storage procedures.
The PCS is asked to know and handle strict environment regulations by operating equipment following these regulations, respecting gas emissions, particle matter emissions and reporting in the manners prescribed by the regulations any possible violations to the policy.
