Spartan Invest is a full-service turn-key real estate investment firm specializing in property acquisition, renovation, and property management that is seeking an Accounting Specialist for our Birmingham based home-office team. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and has a proven track record with regard to time management, sensitive deadlines and relationship building.
General Responsibilities • Processing accounts and outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures • Performing day to day financial transactions • Preparing bills, invoices, bank deposits, and sending wires • Updating and maintaining records of expenditures and sales • Responding to vendor invoices • Resolving payment discrepancies and disputes on behalf of the company • Generate weekly reports for meetings • Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, insurance, etc.) • Must be proactive to assist with issues as they arise • Assist Controller with audits, issuance of 1099s, debt compliance, and more • Tracking inventory and sales purchases • Budget tracking
Requirements • Proven working experience in an accounting-related position - ideally 3+ years experience • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software • Proficiency in Excel • QuickBooks experience is preferred but not required • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Hours: Monday- Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is an in-office role that is not eligible for remote
Total Compensation
The compensation package for this role includes a base annual salary of $50,000-$55,000 to start, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including PTO accrual that begins on day one and 401K with employer contribution after one year of service. We observe eight paid holidays in addition to PTO accrual and we offer paid parental leave after one year in role.
