    Position Overview

    A growing Texas-based financial institution is seeking an experienced Special Assets Manager to lead the management and resolution of troubled commercial and consumer credit relationships. This individual will partner closely with lending, credit, legal, and executive leadership teams to develop workout strategies, minimize loss exposure, maximize recoveries, and oversee the disposition of distressed assets.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned banking professional with a strong background in loan workouts, special assets, and credit risk management who enjoys solving complex challenges and leading a high-performing team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute comprehensive workout strategies for criticized and classified loans to minimize losses and maximize recoveries.
    • Analyze borrower financial performance, collateral positions, legal documentation, lien priority, and overall credit exposure.
    • Serve as the lead workout officer on complex problem credits, working directly with borrowers to negotiate resolutions and monitor action plans.
    • Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel regarding collateral perfection, foreclosure actions, bankruptcy proceedings, litigation, and other recovery strategies.
    • Oversee the management and disposition of OREO and repossessed collateral, including valuation, preservation, marketing, and liquidation efforts.
    • Monitor and manage legal actions, settlements, judgments, and collection efforts.
    • Prepare and present regular reporting to executive leadership, committees, and board-level stakeholders regarding workout progress and asset quality trends.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop Special Assets personnel while providing oversight and guidance on departmental activities.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 10 years of commercial banking experience with exposure to C&I, CRE, and consumer lending.
    • At least 5 years of experience in Special Assets, Loan Workouts, Credit Resolution, or a related credit risk function within a community or regional bank.
    • Strong understanding of loan workout strategies, restructuring, collateral enforcement, and asset recovery.
    • Experience with foreclosure, bankruptcy, receivership, litigation, and other legal remedies associated with defaulted loans.
    • Knowledge of Texas lending laws and foreclosure processes preferred.
    • Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving successful outcomes.
    • Strong financial analysis, negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred.
