    TGH Special Care Unit – Tampa General Hospital Special Care Unit is an elite team of acute care professionals who treat catastrophically ill, medically complex patients requiring extended acute care.     This position promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families. Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Proven administrative leadership in the areas of recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff promoting a culture of safety and accountability to maintain superior patient care. Ability to deliver results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

    The ideal Registered Nurse candidate for this department will have a minimum of two (2) years of previous critical care or acute care experience in a hospital setting. Prior experience in telemetry or step down will be considered. Candidates should be familiar with ventilators, trach care and stroke patients. RN’s must have very strong critical thinking skills in addition to being compassionate and professional.

    Job Qualifications:

    Education – BSN required

    Experience – Five years of experience in an acute care setting preferred. Additionally, previous supervisory experience of five years in a similar setting preferred.

    Licensure – Valid State of Florida RN license

    Certifications – BLS and ACLS required

    Master Degree – Preferred
