Job Overview
We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Special Cleaners to support a large public transportation organization in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments. This role plays a vital part in ensuring high cleanliness standards across office spaces, maintenance facilities, transit centers, and revenue vehicles.
Special Cleaners take pride in hands-on work, understand the importance of cleanliness in public spaces, and are comfortable working in active, fast-paced environments. This position is ideal for candidates who value consistency, teamwork, and making a visible impact on daily operations. Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of customer service, event support, or public-facing experience
- Previous professional cleaning or janitorial experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Experience working independently or as part of a team
- Clean and sanitize offices, maintenance shops, transit centers, and passenger vehicles
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors and surfaces
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles
- Clean restrooms and replenish supplies
- Follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals and equipment properly
- Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors
- Maintain cleanliness standards in high-traffic public areas
Experience Preferences:
- Experience cleaning large facilities, public buildings, or transportation environments
- Familiarity with industrial or commercial cleaning equipment
- Experience working in a union or regulated environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying temperatures
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
Education Preferences:
- Completion of custodial or facilities maintenance training programs
- OSHA or workplace safety training (a plus, not required)
