We are seeking an energetic and experienced Special Education Assistant Teacher to join our team! As an Assistant Teacher, you will work with preschool students with disabilities. Your goal is to recognize their individual educational needs and set them up for long-term academic success. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and dedicated to helping students reach their potential.

Responsibilities:

Understand the goals and objectives on the students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Collect data and draft anecdotal notes

Use a range of instructional methods and learning techniques

Enforce classroom rules and procedures

Assist the teacher in maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records

Prepare materials for lesson plans with the teacher

Communicate with therapeutic school team members

Qualifications:

Minimum of Associates' degree; NYSED Level 3 TA certificate

Previous experience as a special education teacher assistant is preferred

Deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disorders

Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management

Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
