Mindful Roots is partnering with the Cucamonga School District summer school program to offer athletics classes for elementary students. These fun, rotating activities will introduce students to various sports and active challenges. The classes will support students with a range of needs, from ESN to moderate disabilities, with the goal of ensuring everyone stays active and engaged.

Sample activities include:

Basketball (Focus on basic skills like passing, dribbling, and shooting)

Soccer (Focus on simple kicking and chasing activities to promote movement and teamwork)

Obstacle Courses and Balance Activities (Emphasizing coordination, balance, and fun)

Fitness Stations (Implement stations with activities like jumping jacks, stretches, or seated exercises)

Instructors will create their own daily plans and adapt lessons to meet each student’s individual needs. Each class group will have about 12 students and last 30 minutes before rotating to the next group. The program serves students from Kindergarten through 6th grade.

We will hire two instructors to work together, along with paraprofessionals as needed. The main goal is to keep students moving and having fun all summer. Experience working with students with special needs is required.

Please note: The exact school location has not yet been assigned, but the program will be held at one of the schools within the district in Rancho Cucamonga.

Program Schedule: Dates: May 28, 2026 – June 30, 2026 (only on Monday’s)

Class Schedule Breakdown: Mondays: (5 total days, 5 class groups each day):

K-1st Grade: 8:30-9:00 AM

2-3rd Grade: 9:05-9:35 AM

3-4th Grade: 9:40-10:10 AM

5-8th Grade: 10:20-10:50 AM

ESN: 11:00-11:30 AM

Compensation & Availability:

Hourly Rate: $40/hour

Availability required from 8:15 AM to 11:45 AM on each workday

Additional Requirements: All staff will be expected to complete TB screening and live scan background checks prior to start.
