Established in 2011 by NBA Star Jalen Rose and Co-Founder Michael Carter, JRLA is located on the Northwest side of Detroit in the zip code where Jalen grew up. An open enrollment, tuition-free, public charter high school, JRLA provides a leadership-focused education to 420 scholars and nearly 1,000 alumni. The mission is to empower all scholars to develop the strength of character, skills, and knowledge needed to matriculate, be great in, and graduate from college or a postsecondary program so that they have the opportunities to be successful in the competitive world and take care of themselves and the people they love.

Job Summary :
We are seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring that they receive appropriate educational services and accommodations.
Responsibilities :
Essential Duties:
Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
Develop assessments and evaluate student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
Deliver direct instruction to students in various settings, including one-on-one, small group, and co-taught classrooms, using evidence-based strategies tailored to students' learning profiles.
Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, including academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
Collaborate with general education teachers and other school staff to ensure that students with special needs are included in all aspects of school life.
Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction and interventions as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and services provided.
Stay up-to-date on best practices and research related to special education and disabilities.
Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students

Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Special Education. A master's degree is a plus.
Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in Special Education
Experience working with students with disabilities, including experience developing and implementing IEPs
Strong knowledge of best practices and research related to special education and disabilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities
Provide measurable data driven results on resume
Possess strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate high school scholars
Work independently
