We are seeking passionate, highly qualified Special Education Teachers to join our multidisciplinary classroom instructional pods. In this role, you will champion an innovative, data-driven therapeutic environment that bridges the gap between highly restrictive placements and the goal of a Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
You will operate under our Total Student Framework , you will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while working inside a collaborative triad alongside behavior specialists and clinical therapists to turn challenging placements into environments of student success.
Key Responsibilities
Rigorous, Standards-Based Instruction
You will deliver core academic instruction mapped directly to the Pennsylvania Core Standards, utilizing PA Alternate Eligible Content for students with significant cognitive profiles.
You will be expected to implement district-approved High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) including EL Education (ELA), Illustrative Math, and Amplify Science (STEELS standards).
You will be expected to utilize supplemental specialized curricula like the Unique Learning System (ULS) for functional paths, alongside the Wilson Reading System and TouchMath where needed.
You will be expected to apply the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to accommodate diverse learning styles through multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression.
Clinical-Instructional Synergy and Team Collaboration
You will co-design daily lesson plans alongside an on-site Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to blend academic standards with behavioral supports.
You will be expected to supervise and direct classroom paraprofessionals and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to execute lessons and track data with high fidelity.
You will partner with speech, occupational, and physical therapists via an embedded clinical push-in model to generalize therapeutic goals within natural routines.
Data-Based Individualization (DBI) and Document Control
You will collect student performance, social, and behavioral frequency data at least twice weekly using digital tablets.
You will be expected to graph and analyze data trends weekly; execute mandatory instructional pivots if a student shows a non-response trajectory over consecutive data points.
You will draft, manage, and update legally defensible Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) seamlessly within the district's native EasyIEP electronic software platform.
Positive Behavior Support and Safety Standard
You will maintain zero tolerance for aversive or restrictive techniques, utilizing proactive antecedent management and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) authored by the BCBA.
You will be expected to apply trauma-informed, low-arousal de-escalation protocols certified via the Safety-Care curriculum to stabilize high-acuity behavior safely.
You will adhere strictly to PA Chapter 14 caseload maximum bounds, managing full-time groupings capped at 8 students for Autistic or Multiple Disabilities support and 12 students for Emotional support.
You will work to ensure rigorous classroom structure honoring maximum age-range restrictions (a 3-year span for elementary and a 4-year span for secondary cohorts).
Reintegration and Secondary Transition
You will be expected to utilize objective Inclusion Readiness Rubrics (IRR) to navigate students through our 4-Stage Reintegration Pipeline back to neighborhood schools.
For secondary placements (ages 14-22), you will drive functional independence tracks utilizing specialized vocational exploration system labs (PAES), Community-Based Instruction (CBI), and OVR agency linkages.
Position Qualifications and Requirements
Must hold an active, valid Pennsylvania standalone certificate in Special Education PK-12 (per Act 82 of 2018). Edu Prime LLC maintains a strict policy prohibiting the use of emergency permits for lead instructional slots.
For secondary settings, you must demonstrate content-area competency across core content profiles to satisfy ESSA and state auditing protocols.
A Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or relevant field required; active Master's level degree preferred.
