Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking skilled Cardiovascular Technologists and Special Procedure Technicians with expertise in patient assessment, treatment protocols, and cardiovascular procedures. The role involves assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic procedures, monitoring case data, and interpreting hemodynamic measurements and valve area readings.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer contrast media according to age- and weight-specific guidelines.
- Prepare sterile trays and maintain a sterile field per hospital standards.
- Assist interventional physicians during procedures.
- Apply knowledge of pharmaceuticals including their effects, risks, and proper use.
- Initiate and manage IV access as needed.
- Follow physician orders accurately and ensure documentation is completed in Meditech; scan all documents and verify image data in PACS.
- Handle and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following certification paths:
- Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or be eligible to obtain certification within one year of hire.
OR
- Certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)] through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) after completing a program from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Note: ARRT, RCES, or RCIS certification is required.
Additional Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training must be completed within six months of hire.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers.
- A minimum of one year of experience in Special Procedures, Cath Lab, or EP Lab is preferred.
