The Site Planning Associate develops concept plans for new, replacement and expansion projects ensuring the layout delivers easy store access for our customers and associates.  The position conducts formal reviews on civil engineering packages created by outside consultants and monitors the compliance of plans, throughout the development process, with Site Criteria Standards; this includes water and sewer design as well as site grading and traffic movement optimization.  The Site Planning Associate will also work closely with Real Estate department on new site development projects to seek additional on-site retail space opportunities that would maximize our return on investment. 

The position maintains and updates the Site Criteria Standards along with project files and databases. The position attends and organizes meetings, performs due diligences, devises engineering solutions, and works with Real Estate Managers and Site Engineers to ensure cost effective designs. 

Duties and Respnsibilities:

• Organize and support monthly Site Plan Review Committee (SPRC) meeting. Obtain and review concept plans from outside consultants. Have internally produced concept plans ready for review. Work through multiple design iterations with Real Estate, site engineers and the Dir of Store Development to achieve optimum designs (i.e.: customer friendly, efficient, cost effective). Present concepts and site related issues alongside the Real Estate Development Managers for each project. Take meeting notes and distribute. Follow up with consultants and Real Estate in accordance with direction given at SPRC. File concept plans. All the above is for store sites as well as gas sites. 

• Review of project specific site plans produced by consultants for compliance with Site Criteria and good engineering design practices. Review progress prints (50%, 75%, 100%) as well as final construction documents. Produce and distribute plan review memos, follow up on same with consultants and RE Dev Mgrs. Coordination with architects, MEP's, site engineers, store planning, real estate, and construction on projects with site work. 

• Work with Real Estate to push for the most cost-effective site design with the least number of car parks.  Utilize “Build for Less” concepts is all designs.  

• Maintain and update Site Criteria Drawings and Standards. Investigate new and alternative details and designs to save money or make the shopping experience better for the customer. 

• Legal and Real Estate often request searches for archived information to answer question about various sites to support or defend legal actions by developers, customers or permitting authorities.  

• Work with Real Estate Managers and Site Engineers to ensure cost effective designs.  Recommend alternative approaches and details for areas where the design can be improved. 

• Review and comment on site related issues on active and future projects. Present/discuss alternative designs and options. Follow up with consultants and S&S associates on progress

Qualifications:

• Bachlor's Degree. Civil Engineering Preferred

• 5 – 7 years of related experience 

• Auto CAD 

• Microsoft Access 

• Full understanding of site concepts, layouts, traffic patterns, site specifications. 

• Ability to use CAD to layout various options to find the best and highest use for the property. 

• Civil Engineering degree preferred. 

• Oral and/or written communication skills 

• Presentation skills 

• Strong analytical skills
