    Job Description

    JOB TITLE:                      Operations Clerk 

    COMPENSATION:             Hourly 

    COMPANY PROFILE: We are a USA-based private chemical manufacturing company which has been in business for 40 plus years.

    JOB LOCATION: New Brunswick, NJ

    SUMMARY:

    Responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate shipping and receipt of all incoming and outgoing material and/or products. Work as an active team member of the department adhering to all rules and policies while striving to improve inventory accuracy and on time order delivery to meet our customers demand. This role works within our shipping, receiving and inventory departments. Cross training is a must in various areas where help is needed.

    RECEIVING:

    • Receive and inspect all incoming materials
    • Help develop and follow all company policies regarding the activities of the Receiving Department
    • Work closely with the QA Lab in the quarantine of raw materials.
    • Quarantine both approved and rejected materials
    • Sample incoming raw materials using proper safety techniques
    • Maintain a safe, and harassment free work environment

     SHIPPING:

    • Responsible for packing, labeling, routing and shipping orders according to customer requirements and in accordance with Spectrum Policy, USA federal law, state law and international requirements (Ship products in accordance with ICAO/IATA, USA DOT and IMDG specifications)
    • Properly ship freight by checking for hazardous material labels, DOT poison letters, “to be refrigerated” stickers and labels, UN numbers, quantity, limited quantity stickers, packing slip, special handling instructions, consolidating of orders and making sure package is 100% compliant before releasing for shipment
    • Role requires attention to detail for all ground, air and ocean shipments and correctly label all freight in accordance with applicable safety and freight carrier requirements
    • Compliance with any and all applicable rules, regulations, disclosure, reporting and labeling requirements concerning product content and shipping is major responsibility of role.
    • Pick, identify and look up orders in Oracle system; Print packing lists, assemble orders as per compatibility
    • Pack domestic and international orders securely, properly and in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
    • Prepare proper shipping documents, including print invoices and request C of O, NAFTA and any other International Documentation
    • Process orders through UPS, FedEx, LTL for both small packages and bulk orders, process International Orders in the system and arrange pick up.
    • Inspect hazmat orders for accuracy, close shipping process and print manifest, load orders on trucks
    • Pack Will Call orders and provide high customer service to the driver or the customer displaying professionalism in representing the Company
    • Maintain packing supplies inventory

    PRODUCTION CONTROL AND INVENTORY:

    • Cycle count inventory for accuracy and investigate variances as assigned
    • Post pack, perform negative and positive count
    • Responsible for daily inventory picking, transferring and put away activities
    • Must maintain, organize, clean and ensure FIFO of all inventory areas on a daily basis
    • Helping in any department is required doing AS items, RGA items
    • Keep the facility clean, per CGMP requirements
    • Straightening and organizing of product on shelves and box locations

     REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:

    • Strong attention to detail
    • Must have computer skills and utilize handheld devices such as routers as required
    • Must be team player as department works together as one team
    • Excellent time management, organization and follow up skills
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, be flexible and meet deadlines
    • Knowledge of industry products and services a plus
    • Ability to use a computer and required software
    • Must be able to handle heavy workload
    • Must be able to comply with all USA federal laws, state laws, company rules, policies, procedures and processes
    • Must be able to work in all areas of the department when needed as well be able to provide help throughout the Company where permitted.
    • Knowledge of industry products and services a plus
    • Must be flexible on work schedule, occasional working past 7:00 pm.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Fluent in English – written and oral skills required.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and solve them.

    _ _EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
    • 1- 2 years related experience or training preferred
    • Previous Experience and/or permit for operation of forklifts preferred
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite preferred
    • Experience with Oracle is highly preferred

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    This position requires to have Forklift certification, HAZWOPER Training may be required. Complete 49 CFR exam for ground shipments within 90 days of hire. Complete IATA exam for air shipments and international shipments within 90 days of hire.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee must have the ability on a daily basis to lift and move up to 70 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
