Job Description

SPECTRUM SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY (SST) IS CURRENTLY SEEKING AN RF MODELING & SIMULATION ENGINEER FOR OUR CIVIL AVIATION PROGRAMS. MS OR HIGHER IN ENGINEERING, PHYSICS OR RELATED  IS DESIRED. BS WITH ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE ALSO STRONGLY CONSIDERED. SOME RF/ELECTROMAGNETIC, MICROWAVE, OR ANTENNA COURSEWORK IS PREFERRED. KNOWLEDGE OF  MODELING SOFTWARE SUCH AS HFSS, ANSYS, CREO, FEKO, COMSOL. STRONG MATH SKILLS ARE REQUIRED. MATLAB AND/OR PYTHON KNOWLEDGE A PLUS. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA)’S WILLIAM J. HUGHES TECHNICAL CENTER ADJACENT TO THE ATLANTIC CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, NEW JERSEY. WILLING TO HELP WITH RELOCATION IF NEEDED. PARTIALLY REMOTE.

The prospective candidate will work with electromagnetic simulation tools (ANSYS HFSS) to model performance of Navigational Aids (NAVAID). Modeling will involve re-creation of objects and terrain in 3D using CAD software such as AutoCad. The candidate will also help in the development of new NAVAID models. The prospective candidate will be responsible for generating in-depth reports based on modeling studies.

The candidate will also work with navigation system performance data from the flight inspection system archive and use existing techniques to extract the data. The candidate will analyze the data using current methods. Current analysis methods are done using MATLAB. The prospective candidate will also be responsible data analysis and for generating in-depth reports based on the analysis of the data.

Qualifications

· Modeling Software(HFSS, COMSOL, Ansys, CREO, Feko, etc)

· MATLAB and/or Python is helpful

· Strong Mathematics and Data Analysis skills

· Some RF/Electromagnetic, Microwave, or Antenna coursework

· US Citizen or Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder

Education: MS or higher in Electrical Engineering or related preferred
